Always Opt For the Best Site to Read the Best Tech Reviews

Are you into the latest technological gadgets and always looking for tech reviews on the Internet? If so, you may be dealing with the same dilemma as a million others like you. Although the Internet is a great place for getting the latest tech news, the real challenge is finding the right source.

Not all sources on the Internet are worth trusting with respect to information about the latest gadgets and advancements in technology. This is one of the most popular niches on the Internet and you are likely to be overwhelmed with the sheer number of websites offering you so-called “expert” tech reviews.

If you analyze carefully you will find many of these websites lacking in quality information. When it comes to tech products, you want the most comprehensive information that you can get. Actually, there is a clear difference between good and excellent reviews. High quality tech reviews will inform you of the specific features of the tech product in utmost detail. This will further be complimented with special mention of the unique technology employed in every particular product and what makes it different from others of its like. After listing out the features, it will provide you with a list of benefits that you can derive from the features of that particular product. This will put you in a better position to gauge whether or not that particular tech product is of value to you.

These are not the only ingredients of expert tech reviews. You see, for a tech review to be of real value to its readers, it must be unbiased. This means that it should honestly give the pros and cons of the product in relation with its features and price to enable the reader to make an informed decision. In many cases, if you are looking into a particular brand and reading reviews of their products on their own websites they tend to be biased in favor of the product. This is but natural since they want to promote their sales. However, if you are looking for honest, unbiased and straight forward tech reviews you need to find a neutral source of information that will give you the low down on various brands without actually being in favor of one over the other. It is this type of tech review websites that are difficult to find, as in most cases affiliate marketers are the ones writing reviews for the particular brand that they work with. Their only aim is to promote a product and increase website traffic.

Finally yet importantly, the price at which a particular tech gadget is being sold at is also one of the things that need to be incorporated into tech reviews. After all, it is only after comparing it with similar products that you will be able to decide if a particular gadget is worth investing in or it is better to opt for another one.

High Tech, Low Tech, and Fly-Fishing Anglers Have it All

Over the years, fishing has taken many turns. It has gone in many directions, from low tech to high tech. You have many choices of fishing now days. You can fish with or with out a pole. Low-tech fishing is easy and can be fun. High tech fishing can also be fun, just more expensive.

Low Tech Fishing

The age-old sport of fishing low tech will test your skills. It would be you against the fish and see who comes out the winner. This is the sport from days past, where you could grab a cane pole, or a limb of a tree, tie a string on it, attach a hook, conjure up some bait and you are all set.

Low-tech fishing tests your knowledge of where the fish will be or how to attract them.

Jug Fishing: Fishing Without a Pole

When you fish without a pole, it is called jug fishing. It is used most the time for catching catfish and gar.

Fishing without a pole was the poor/lazy man’s way of fishing, effective and productive for those who didn’t have the time to hold a pole or for those too lazy to hold one. All you had to do was to bait a hook, place it on a line and a floating device large enough to tire the fish out trying to get loose. You could come back later and see what you have caught.

If you want to catch many fish at one time, you simply set out a line with many hooks, baiting all them out, securing the line to a tree or some kind of anchoring device and your trotline was ready.

Fly-Fishing Low Tech with Some Help

Fishing became an art and science. Fly-fishing require fishing with artificial, generally handmade, bait. The bait is usually made out of feathers, yarn, thread and other materials designed to attract a fish, fashioning them to look like natural foods on which fish feast.

Other kind of flies is considered attractants. Attractants are flies that don’t really resemble any natural foods but antagonize or spark fish’s protective instincts.

This sport has been said that a fly has to catch an angler before it can catch a fish. This explanation is simply put, if the angler doesn’t think it will work, then it won’t be used. That means it will never catch a fish.

High Tech Fishing

Fishing has gone high tech. You can find equipment that will enhance and give the angler an advantage over the fish or it seems that way.

  • High speed boats to out run and transport the angler quickly
  • Sonar to find the fish, and tell what depth they are at
  • GPS to mark their location, for easy return to the fishing spot.
  • Electronic color matching equipment to determine the best color of lure for the depth and clarity of water
  • High powered lights, which are submersible for attracting fish.

Checking out the web and sporting good stores will show you all the latest and greatest equipment for catching fish the high tech way.

High Tech, Low Tech or Fly Fishing

High tech, low tech or fly-fishing, it is your choice. Fishing is a great means of relaxation with a prize at the end if you desire. It is fun and eating what you catch will be the icing on the cake. Go fishing and enjoy the outdoors.

The Best Virginia Tech Football Out-Of-Conference and ACC Games on the Schedule

There is plenty left to play for with Frank Beamer’s team and you can bet that the Hokies will have some fight left in them. The ACC conference has not looked too good so far in 2010 and thus VT can still make a run at an ACC championship and an Orange Bowl.

Obviously the premier out-of-conference game for the Hokies in 2010 was the one they played versus Boise, but there are 2 left and both should still be good match-ups. Virginia Tech vs ECU tickets and in Lane stadium will still be completely sold out as the Pirates have an on-going rivalry with VT and will give them a good game. In fact, ECU beat VT in 2008 in their opener on a blocked punt.

Virginia Tech also plays Central Michigan later in October, and you can expect VT vs Central Michigan tickets to be equally sold out. Central Michigan is one of the so called ‘directional’ schools from the MAC, but usually has a talented first string and will not just fold over for the Hokies, especially given the offensive and defensive line problems Virginia Tech has right now.

However it’s the ACC portion of the schedule that has the real interesting games and some real battles as well. There’s plenty to choose from, but it won’t start easy as the Hokies have to travel to Boston College to take on the Eagles, a team the generally gives the Hokies fits. Va Tech will probably be favored, but it will be a game they’ll have to survive, not just win.

The next week is not any easier as they then take on the NC State Wolfpack at Raleigh. So that is two weeks in a row on the road against good ACC opponents. NC State is an experienced team lead by a good QB, and the last time the two played there, it was a very tight game. NC State will also be looking for revenge from last year’s defeat.

But on November 4th (a Thursday night), is truly when the toughest stretch of the Hokies schedule begins that will make or break their year. The next 4 games will decide the fate of the Coastal Division of the ACC. It starts that night with a huge match-up with the team that has become the Hokies second biggest rival, Georgia Tech. The winner of this game has won the coastal division several years in a row. Virginia Tech vs Georgia Tech tickets will likely be the toughest ones to get all year.

That game is followed by monster games at North Carolina (UNC) and at Miami, 2 of the ACC strongest teams. Of course North Carolina has a ton of uncertainty right now given their player suspensions, but it likely will be settled down by then. Playing Miami on the road is always a battle, and they again have a seasoned senior quarterback, and will be looking for revenge after getting throttled in Blacksburg last year.

The Hokies close the year out with a game at home against UVa. Virginia has been down for several years, but look much improved this year. It’s also likely things won’t be settled in the ACC until this final week, and both teams will have something to play for.

Surgical Tech Salary: Why You Should Be Compensated for Your Quality of Work

Surgical Tech salary is an extremely broad value that requires you to take into account a few elements. It may be based on the sort of career and place where the individual chooses to function. As an example, I operate with a plastic surgeon in California and make about $20 an hour. This really is around the larger end of the pay scale and I am fortunate for that. Based on Salary.com the expected median Surgical Tech salary is presently $35,122. Also, the Association of Surgical Technologists (AST) has given a number of $12.72 to $18 per hour, nationally. There are a couple of considerations to wrap your head around when you are researching the pay out that an OR Tech can receive.

Your physical location plays a hugely crucial role when it comes to Surgical Tech salary. In most instances, the money is in line with the cost of living for every state. In the case of southern California, a tech with little or no experience can anticipate to make $16-20 per hour or slightly a lot more. This is not typical and technologists within the south or mid west can count on roughly $13-16 an hour.

The kind of position that a surgical tech is filling will also dictate what kind of money they can expect to be paid. This is a key factor to think about due to the fact there is such a huge diversity to the jobs that a surgical tech will find themselves working after school. The larger pay is going to be reserved for the experienced specialists which are on a prestigious group such as a heart team or those who operate for an organ transplant surgeon. I have noticed that techs who function in a large hospital are often in the lower side of the salary scale.

Although it is much less of an issue than location and job requirements, your expertise can dictate your money, too. This of course depends upon the facility. In the event you have zero expertise and are a brand new OR Tech, you can anticipate slightly less pay until you get a bit of surgery under your belt and perhaps some extra duties such as supply.

Getting your certification can boost your Surgical Tech salary as well. Some work places will give an extra buck or two to someone who holds a current certification. Although in my view a non certified tech is just as effective as a non licensed one, it really is a good idea to look good on paper and grab some more pay.

The wide range for a Surgical Tech salary is totally justified in my view. Just as in any medical job, the higher your qualifications and specializations, the more you should get. It’s a matter of jumping on every opportunity in your career, regardless of whether it be further schooling, certifications, or new experiences so that you could be paid correctly for the talents that you bring to an Operating Room.

The Toughest ACC Games on the Virginia Tech Football Schedule

The Virginia Tech football team had a heartbreaking opening season loss to Boise State, and going into the season that game got tons of natural attention both from Virginia Tech fans and college football fans in general. Big out of conference games tend to be hyped since they are rare and unusual, and good ones are fun to watch.

However now that the game has come and gone, VT needs to focus on the important part of their schedule, the ACC portion. Given the losses they have already endured, the national championship is obviously not a goal for the team. However their primary goal for any season is still a relative possibility, and that is winning the ACC championship. The fact that the ACC has looked so pedestrian this year only increases the importance of these games and makes an ACC championship even more attainable.

So which games will be the biggest ACC contests for VT in 2010? There are many – you could almost argue ‘all of them’ in that given how the Hokies have looked so far, no game will be a given. However there are certainly some that look pivotal and especially interesting. The Hokies has developed so interesting rivalries in their short history in the ACC.

The most critical game in my mind is the Virginia Tech vs Georgia Tech game. Virginia Tech vs Georgia Tech tickets will be some of the most difficult to get in Blacksburg all year, given it’s a Thursday night home game and this game has virtually decided the winner of the Coastal Division of the ACC in the last several years. There is also an interesting sub-rivalry between Bud Foster’s Virginia Tech defense versus Paul Johnson’s Georgia Tech offense that is excellent drama.

The next most pivotal games are vs Miami and vs UNC. These games all come back to back with the Georgia Tech game creating a brutal stretch for the Hokies. Both of these games are also on the road. One or both of these teams will also likely be in the hunt for the division title, and both lost to Virginia Tech last year, and will be looking for revenge. VT vs UNC tickets will be tough to get as there won’t be as many available from UNC fans as there usually area, since there teams is performing well and filling up more seats in the stadium.

However there are several ACC games that at the beginning of the year probably seemed easier than they do now. The game versus Wake Forest will be a stiff test for the Hokies, as they have shown they can compete with anyone in the league. Games at NC State and at Boston College will be brutal tests. The Hokies would do well to split in those two road games.

The game versus UVa is the season’s final game, and there is lots to learn about both teams before that contest is played. However judging on how the teams look now, it will be a tough test for the Hokies. Virginia looks improved so far under their new coach Mike London, and moving in the right direction. UVa has lost several games in a row to the Hokies and will be ready to break the streak. It is very likely that both teams will have something to play for when that game comes around, and Virginia Tech vs UVa tickets will be highly prized.

Tech Startup Versus Tech SME: Who Wins?

Investing in technology products and services offers entrepreneurs a platform for business profit. Interestingly, steering business and software strategies toward the tech industry scales a venture up for huge potential to contribute to economic development. When it comes to typical tech enterprising, a business is either an SME or a startup, categorically.

The World Bank categorizes small and medium enterprises in general as having less than 50 and 300 employee headcount, with total assets and annual revenues of less than $3 and $15 million respectively. Reflecting different quantitative factors, the yardstick according to the European Union for small and medium businesses are headcounts of less than 50 and 250, and turnovers of less than €50 and €10 million.

While strikingly similar in most other ways, tech startups and SMEs dramatically differ in source funding, funding size, as well as collateral. In terms of maneuvering their business and software strategies, all information to succeed in the game can be very overwhelming both for tech startups and SMEs. Talking about the surefire path to tech startup failure, TechStartups blogcites, among others, a bad strategy, a bad business model, the wrong team and lack of funding.

Small and Medium Enterprises: Tech Talk

Providing hands-on assistance to bring programs to scale, Innovations for Poverty Action or IPA, hails SMEs as drivers of economic growth, employment, social mobility and innovation, owing to the way they respond and grab new opportunities that offer business growth potential. SMEs are often the vehicle by which the entrepreneurial-spirited emerging markets and developing economies want to make a mark in a given industry.

From the perspective of technology-oriented SME customers, there is risk that comes with dealing with small entities, but with a reward may just be worth it. In an aim to enhance their competitive advantage, SMEs are more likely to offer personalized customer service at its best, and with the SME founders, most likely providing easy talk for particular negotiations.

In comparison to established tech vendors, early stage tech vendors are most likely to offer services of “lesser sophistication,” but they offer crucial leaps in product or service effectiveness, productivity and cost savings.

Tech Startups: The Inside Story

In collaboration with market research firm YouNoodle, BusinessWeek has recently released its a-list of 50 tech startups which – after being formed no earlier than 2005 in the United States, China, Russia, India and Israel – are making the buzz and gearing up for massive growth.

A highly particular kind of business, tech startups were formed with the specific goal of creating an enormous value for not only for its customers, but also its shareholders and employees.

Low Tech in a High Tech World

It seems that the more gadgets we have that were all touted as being able to de-stress us by keeping us up to date, the more stressed out we have become. People walk out of their houses on their phones, they drive while checking their emails, and walk down the street while texting someone.

You know, there is something to be said for not knowing everything right now. Wouldn’t it be nice to walk down the street to your local store and actually watch where you’re going? Take time to see the trees, the insects, and the birds as you go by? Being able to drive in your car and enjoy the view, what a simple pleasure we take for granted. Sometimes we’re trying to talk to one person while texting someone else. Gone are the times when you had someone’s undivided attention, and enter the times when our lives have become one multitasking session after another.

Being detached from the grid from time to time can be very de-stressing, unless you start stressing about not knowing. There are two things we need to do in order to live low tech in this high tech world.

1. Don’t get caught up in the hype. You don’t need to upgrade every time. Believe it or not, the tech we have can last years and years, and most of the time, our needs don’t change that drastically to warrant getting the latest tech anyway.

2. Understand that there is, and will always be, something better than what you have, so just be satisfied with what you do have, and don’t focus on what you don’t have.

We get up in the morning and check our smart phones and or tablets before we talk to our significant other. We can send a quick email, check the weather and the news all before we say “hey” to our partners. There used to be time for talk before we leave the house, but now the only talk we hear is “I’m late, gotta go.”

This high tech driven society definitely has it’s advantages, and there are some technologies that really make life a joy to live, however, all this tech has come at a price. Instead of connecting one on one, we end up connecting one on three, or one on five, as we try to connect to everything and everyone at once.

We cannot escape this high tech society in which we live, and neither should we try to, but what we should try to do is know which tech we need and which we don’t. Lets stay connected with our family and friends, but lets not loose the joy of enjoying life. Let’s control our tech, instead of our tech controlling us. Let’s enjoy the sun, the rain, the breeze, as we also enjoy our loved ones, and the gadgets that keep us connected. Lets try to understand which tech gadgets will give us the balance that will truly allow us to be low tech in a high tech world.

How To Ask For Tech Support The Right Way

We all have had to face a tech problem in the past that required us to seek tech support. The problem can range all over the place, it could be a problem with your printer, computer or who knows maybe even your cell phone. When it’s time to try and find tech support, in order to get the support you want, here are a few tips on things to do when submitting requests for tech support, or even just doing a quick web search for it.

Be More Specific

This is the main one. If someone came to me and said “my computer isn’t working, how do I fix it?” I could not help them. This request is too generic. It has no detail what so ever. I can already start asking questions like, what is it showing you? When did this happen? What were you doing at the time? These are just a couple things I might ask the person asking for my tech support. You got to actually tell me what’s not working. After I get the answers to these questions I would still have to ask more such as, what OS does it run? How long have you had it? What OEM made the computer? Of course, if you are using something else than a computer trying to get tech support adjust the questions you will need to answer in your request to suit that piece of technology. Another good thing to include here would be the specs. of the computer. Tech support will want to know things like what the CPU of the computer is and how much RAM you have. These are all important in case maybe someone else has had the same issue with that same RAM company or something like that. If someone had the same issue, it will be much quicker for tech support to troubleshoot it.

Include Model Numbers In Your Tech Support Request

This can help tech support a lot if they can get the model number of the computer, printer, etc. you are trying to get tech support for. In fact, if you include this they may not even need to ask for the specifications of the computer. They will be able to research your model number and find all that and more about the computer. This is also something super useful to use when searching Google or other search engines for tech support. You can get help or advice from people who know your technology exactly and maybe have encountered this issue in the past and learned how to troubleshoot it.

Don’t Be Afraid to Write a Little

If you are posting your request on a Q&A site or support forum for example don’t be afraid to write a good paragraph or two on what exactly is up with this certain piece of technology you need support for. If the site has some good people they will read it and will be able to provide much better support to you because they actually know at least what is happening.

Include Screenshots or Video

If it is possible, try including screenshots or pictures with your requests. If the error has a sequence, maybe even try getting a video up on YouTube so people can see what is happening. A visual can always help people know so they don’t have to make their own visual in their head. If you have to, don’t be afraid to use a camera and just take a picture of the screen if you can’t get a screenshot. The quality obviously won’t be as good if you go down this path, but at least you have a visual for those trying to aid you with tech support.

Overall the main idea here is detail, detail and you guessed it, more detail! If you can get this idea down you will be on your way to submitting better tech support requests that will get you the answers you need faster. After all, everyone wants the problem fixed, now! I truly believe that following these tips can get you closer to that. Though, one more thing, if you can get on phone support, do it! That is a very good thing! Phone support allows you to explain, using the power of your voice, in real-time. So, if that is an option, use it! Do you have some tips? Leave them as a comment!
